Annaliese Herring

Annaliese has been part of Design House for more than 7 years. Her interest in homes began during childhood, when she and her father would drive through neighborhoods and talk about the houses they passed. She studied architecture at the University of Virginia, combining her creativity with an interest in architectural history and residential design. Before joining Design House, Annaliese worked on international development projects, including shelters and schools for communities recovering from conflict and natural disasters. She also gained experience working with an architect in Southport. At Design House, she works with builders to refine and develop plans for clients. She has designed custom residential projects ranging from pool houses to mid-sized custom homes and contributed to hundreds of properties measuring up to 7,000 square feet. She helps develop floor plans, exterior elevations, and complete construction documents. A recent project she developed at Design House with a local builder won the Diamond Award at the Parade of Homes in 2025. Annaliese begins by learning how each client plans to live in their home. She considers their family, lifestyle, entertaining needs, and future plans rather than focusing only on the number or size of the rooms. Her collaborative and flexible approach allows clients to remain involved throughout the process. She often begins with hand-drawn sketches before developing and finalizing each plan in AutoCAD. Outside of work, Annaliese enjoys running, gardening, reading and enjoying coastal life with her two children.
